VP/GM & Head of eCommerce, Acelerada @ Bimbo Bakeries/Grupo Bimbo

Omar has 20+ years of increasing responsibility in eCommerce and Digital. He leads eCommerce at Acelerada, a newly created stand-alone business unit of Bimbo Bakeries/Grupo Bimbo dedicated to breakthrough product and process innovation and eCommerce. With ~ $15 Billion in Net Sales, Grupo Bimbo is the world’s largest baking goods company with iconic brands like Sara Lee, Thomas' English Muffins, Entenmann's, and Ball Park. 

Immediately prior to joining Bimbo, Omar headed the Global eCommerce function at Colgate Palmolive responsible for Colgate’s eCommerce strategy & execution in all markets Colgate operates in and across all product categories including Oral Care, Personal Care, Home Care, and Pet Nutrition. During his 5 years at Colgate, Omar was responsible for growing the business across all global retail partners and direct to consumer and B2B initiatives.  

Omar joined Colgate from Scholastic Inc., the second largest revenue site in the books category, one of the most developed and dynamic categories on-line. At Scholastic, he was the Director of eCommerce & Digital Distribution Strategy, responsible for defining and executing the global eCommerce and digital strategy across B2C and B2B channels and helped launch 'Storia' - Scholastic's Children's eBook business from concept to a full branded launch including handling all operations, customer service, online marketing, and analytics. 

Previously in his career Omar has worked at premier eCommerce consulting firms (Scient, ePresence, MindTree) where he managed all eCommerce related engagements for key clients and helped launch many B2C and B2B businesses from ideation to full rollout with known brands such as Hotwire.com, Marriott.com, Marriott mobile, Avis.com, Budget.com, Century21, and Coldwell Banker B2B sites etc. 

Omar started his career in financial services on Wall Street working with a start-up originating from CS First Boston and then later at JP Morgan where he helped start Lab Morgan (JP Morgan’s e-finance initiative).  

Omar has a BS from Syracuse University and an MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.
