Inductive power transmission technology is one of the fastest growing categories within consumer electronics. In 2017 nearly 40% of all Qi enabled mobile devices sold globally were sold with a wireless charger – that’s roughly 210,000 million wireless chargers sold worldwide. The Inductive Intelligence system leverages the demand for the convenience associated with wireless charging and marries that with the increased global demand for convenience-oriented, single serve packaging by enabling a safer, more consistent and more convenient way of precisely heating items using a wireless phone charger and a smart package. Our set it and forget it heating system allows the consumer to heat foods and beverages at their desk, in their dorm or even in their car, simply by placing the item on our wireless phone charger.
Our system delivers a great consumer experience, but we also deliver real-time consumption data every time a package is placed on the device. This type of data is currently not available to FMCG companies and retailers. In the past these companies could only get purchase data and guess at who in the household was consuming the product. Our system and smart packaging can tell you who’s consuming what, when, where and how often. It also enables consumption-based auto-replenishment and time-of-consumption market research. We are the data that feeds big data systems, and at the same time delivers full traceability of products throughout the entire supply chain and even potentially into post-consumer waste separation.
The combination of a better consumer experience and much more timely and relevant data make the Inductive Intelligence system a great solution for grocer’s private label brands and consumer packaged goods manufacturers alike. Our data indicates the convenience our system delivers will increase consumption, improve margins, and deliver more effective marketing.
Our initial focus is on delivering a small consumer device, enabling single serve packaging and creating small temperature-controlled vessels like coffee mugs and soup bowls, but we are also partnering with kitchen appliance companies and automotive suppliers to embed the technology into standard kitchen appliances and vehicles, both manned and unmanned. Beyond single serve, we can also heat food in the package for restaurant delivery and inductively heat and control the temperature of foods and beverages in institutional food applications.
